Metro Pacific Investments Corp., which is led by telco magnate Manuel V. Pangilinan, has denied reports of selling its stake in Maynilad Services Inc.
The holding firm, in response to inquiries, clarified that it has not disposed of any or all of its stake in the water and wastewater services provider.
This statement comes after journalist Ramon Tulfo’s report that Maynilad had been sold to ultra bilyonaryo Enrique K. Razon Jr., who controls Manila Water Co. Inc.
Tulfo also posted Razon’s text message denying the acquisition: “Hi Mon getting a lot of messages about your tweet on Maynilad. Fyi we have not acquired Maynilad. Thanks.”
Maynilad covers the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta. Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the Districts of Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in the Province of Cavite.
