The family of former congressman Romy Jalosjos is not only bent on changing the faces of the hit noontime show Eat Bulaga, it is also pushing to overhaul the creative team behind the camera.
According to a Babbler, the management of EB producer, Television and Production Exponents (TAPE), has reportedly asked the creative staff to apply for early retirement as part of the Jalosjos family’s plan to rebrand the show after 43 years.
During a series of meetings since the children of Jalosjos took over management, Babbler said employees were told that they would receive a “notice to retire,” but could reapply for available positions at reduced salaries.
Some of the creative staff are considering legal action if they are forced to retire and if their program segments are used without their permission.
Babbler said TAPE was known to be a closely-knit family under its co-founder Tony Tuviera, who has been eased out of management, and which has spurred the loyalty and creativity of its staff for decades.
Bilyonaryo.com previously reported of a massive makeover of EB with the Jalosjos management eager to replace its original hosts Tito, Vic & Joey (TVJ) and some of their co-hosts. TVJ reminded the Jalosjos family that they, and not TAPE, created the EB brand and wrote the iconic theme song.
The Jalosjos camp, which has made a sweeping denial of the Bilyonaryo.com reports, has scheduled a press conference next month to announce their plans for the program.
With the exit of Tuviera from management, Jalosjos, a convicted child rapist, has installed his children to run the show – Jon-Jon is the chief executive officer, Bullet (a mayor of Dapitan) is chief financial officer, and Soraya is head of administration.
