Filipino painter Benedicto Cabrera has set a new record for his work through the Salcedo Auctions.
The Baguio-based artist fetched a winning bid of P25.696 million for his latest piece from his “Larawan” series, of course featuring female silhouettes.
It’s good timing too for Women’s Month, as Cabrera’s masterpiece features two women clad in the classic terno — a nod to the colonial era.
Cabrera was named a National Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts in 2006.
