Impact of inflation? Shangri-La Mall raises parking fees

The posh Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong is raising parking fees beginning March 22.

Shang Properties announced through physical signboards in the mall parking area that it is removing flat rate parking rates on weekends and is charging a uniform rate for all vehicles.

The fee for the first three hours of mall parking remains at P50, but the surcharge is raised from P20 to P50 for every succeeding hour or fraction of it.

A daily overnight charge of P300 is also collected for cars left inside the parking space between 3 a.m. to 5:59 a.m.

Some netizens, however, say beyond parking fees, the all-digital parking payment system is a bigger issue as it often generates long lines due to longer processing times.

“Super annoying ng new system nila na iisa lang ang kiosk na bayaran ng parking. Thanks for giving us another reason to not go to Shang anymore,” Facebook user Cara Cuevas said.
