At the Women2023 event hosted by the FEU Tech Innovation Center, Krys Bacani, a 4th District Manila City Councilor and a women’s rights advocate, presented her insights on women in technology.
During the event, Bacani highlighted several critical points, such as the existing gender gap in digital literacy and the importance of promoting STEM education to encourage more women in the field.
She also pointed out that misogynistic content is more likely to be shared online, leading to the perpetuation of sexual abuse.
However, Bacani recognizes the positive impact of digital media on women’s economic opportunities.
