The P52 billion Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project (MVIP) is expected to be finished by June.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), a privately-owned company that manages the country’s electricity transmission grid, has reported that the interconnection between Mindanao and Visayas is 80 percent complete as of March.
With the available 450 MW of power through the submarine cable, 80 percent of it can be transported to Cebu, and by June 30, 2023, the project will be fully completed.
Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla said that the Cebu-Negros-Panay interconnection is also set to be completed by the same date.
The transmission projects will allow stranded power from Negros to be transported to Cebu, with some portion delivered to Luzon.
