GCash rolls out crypto trading feature

E-wallet GCash has joined the cryptocurrency market as it starts offering a trading feature on its app.

The online bank owned by the bilyonaryo Zobel de Ayala clan has rolled out the GCrypto dashboard to more users after an initial pilot run. The trading wallet for digital currencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin is separate from the GCash wallet for fiat money.

“Please take note that you cannot transfer or buy crypto directly from your GCash Wallet. You must first top-up your GCrypto Trading Wallet and use that wallet to buy crypto,” GCash said in an advisory to customers.

GCash’s rival, Maya, rolled out its own cryptocurrency trading platform in 2022.
