Razon-led all Filipino consortium completes Malampaya maintenance with zero incident

An all-Filipino-owned consortium led by ultra bilyonaryo Enrique Razon Jr. successfully completed with zero incident the Malampaya deepwater gas-to-power project maintenance works last week.

The Malampaya maintenance is carried out regularly over the last two decades but this is the first time that an all-Filipino consortium conducted the two-week works.

Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla lauded the service contract 38 consortium for the successful completion of the maintenance works -led by Prime Energy as operator with a 40 percent stake, Dennis Uy’s UC38 LLC with 45 percent, and state firm PNOC Exploration Corp. (PNOC-EC) with its 10 percent interest.

The maintenance works on the Malampaya platform, pipelines, and entire system were done from February 4 to 18.

The maintenance works were completed with zero incidents recorded through diligent planning and execution by the operator, Prime Energy, in coordination with the Department of Energy.

Prior to the commencement of the work scope, the DOE together with Prime Energy, conducted numerous engagements with the stakeholder communities, local government units and other government agencies, particularly in the vicinity of the Onshore Gas Plant in Batangas.

Prime Energy resumed delivery of Malampaya gas to the various power plants at 12:01 AM on 19 February 2023, as scheduled.
