The Department of Information and Technology (DICT) reported that the number of registered SIMs reached 30.1 million as of February 7.
According to records provided by the public telecommunication entities (PTEs), the 30.1 million represents 17.76 percent of the 168.977 million subscribers nationwide.
Smart had reported a total of 15.475 million registrants, accounting for 22.76 percent of its 67.995 million subscribers.
Globe Telecom Inc. recorded 12.203 million registered subscribers or about 13.8 percent of its total 87.873 million customers.
Meanwhile, DITO Telecommunity Corp. reported a total of 2.331 million SIMs registered or 17.79 percent of its 13.108 million subscribers.
“We are seeing good progress in terms of the registered subscribers, and we look forward to how this will translate to a safer and more secure digital communications in the coming days,” said DICT Secretary Ivan John E. Uy.
