Well done, Johanne Siy! Singapore-based Filipina is Asia’s Best Female Chef

Dagupan-born Johanne Siy, head chef of Singapore’s Lolla restaurant, has been recognized as Asia’s Best Female Chef of 2023 by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

According to The World’s 50 Best’s official post, Siy left a corporate career to pursue her passion for food and trained at the Culinary Institute of America. In the early days of her career, she trained under Le Bernardin’s French cuisine master Eric Ripert and Café Boulud’s Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Boulud.

Before landing her head chef post in Lolla, she also served at Restaurant Andre, also in Singapore for four years.

Under her watch, Lolla has carved a name for its expertise in serving modern European cuisine fused with Nordic and Asian flavors. In 2021, Siy was also crowned Female Chef of the Year by the World Gourmet Awards.
