The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has warned the public against social media posts claiming that there’s a new 150-peso banknote featuring an image of Jose Rizal.
A photo of a brown bill featuring Rizal has been making the rounds online recently. The banknote, however, appeared to be a product of poor editing, as the hero’s image was similar to the one featured on the one-peso coin.
“Images of the said banknote circulating on social media are fictitious,” the BSP said in an advisory.
“The central bank encourages the public to report persons involved in the manufacture and/or distribution of counterfeit Philippine currency to the BSP Payments and Currency Investigation Group at email address firstname.lastname@example.org or through telephone numbers +63-2-8988-4833 and +63-2-8926-5092,” it added.
