Macatangay-Avena pair triumphs in JHI golf

Terence Macatangay and Ivan Avena shot a 12-under-par gross 58 in scramble format to win the overall gross championship at the Januarius Holdings Inc. (JHI) Invitational held at Tagaytay Highlands in Cavite.

Noel Estrella, a director at the Subic Yacht Club, and former collegiate athlete Jens Knuttel combined for the lowest net of 60 at the par 70 layout, to join Macatangay and Avena in the top winners’ circle.

The one-day, strictly-by-invitation tournament was in celebration of the birthday of JHI chairman and chief executive officer JJ Atencio, the former president and CEO of 8990 Holdings.

The other winners were: Jaye Escuadro and Eric Gozo (Division 1), Bajjie del Rosario and Magic Ante (Division 2), Michael Tan and Jun Tan (Division 3), Jong Arcano and Rodel Mangulabnan (Seniors).
