Bilyonaryo Fernando Zobel de Ayala is taking on a leadership role as director of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum (SHLPH) five months after resigning from his family’s business empire.
Zobel has agreed to return as chairman of SHLPH’s corporate governance committee starting February 1. In board meeting last November, Zobel was allowed to move down to committee member while on medical leave.
Former SHLPH president and CEO Cesar A. Buenaventura , who held the committee chair in Zobel’s absence, will resume as chairman of the board audit and risk oversight committee which was held in an interim basis by former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco Jr.
The SHLPH disclosure is a positive development for Zobel who resigned from all publicly-listed corporations of the Ayala group effective September 12 to ” allow him to focus more on his recovery and health.”
