Seven of the Philippines’ wealthiest persons flew to Davos, Switzerland to support President Ferdinand Marcos’ investment pitch for the country at the 2023 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Aboitiz Group president and CEO Sabin Aboitiz, who leads the Private Sector Advisory Council, led the private sector delegation. Joining him were Kevin Tan of Alliance Global, Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala of the Ayala Group, Lance Gokongwei of the Gokongwei Group, Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corp., Teresita Sy-Coson of SM Investments, and Enrique Razon of the ICTSI Group.
Marcos will have the chance to pitch the Philippines as an attractive investment destination at the Country Strategy Dialogue to be hosted by WEF.
“One that is open for business – ever ready to complement regional and global expansion plans of both foreign and Philippine-based enterprises anchored on the competent and well-educated Filipino workers, the managers and professionals,” the President said.
In an interview with Philippine media en route to Switzerland, Marcos said he is looking forward to “expanding and expounding” the significant strides achieved by his administration in the question-and-answer event at the WEF.
A number of “pull aside” or “pull away” meetings might also be held with Marcos on the sidelines of the annual meeting of businessmen, global influencers and politicians.
