You can add this restaurant to your Japan dining bucket list.
Hunt for a pop up location of the Restaurant of Mistaken Orders, where you set yourself up for a surprise menu because the servers will all forget your order immediately after you give it.
While you would typically get angry at such “poor” service, the servers are actually people suffering from dementia, and the restaurant advocates for the welfare of their staff, to provide these individuals with meaningful work even as they deal with their condition. It also fosters understanding about the condition among customers of the establishment.
No worries, though. The restaurant assures that even if staff members may not get your order right since they are suffering from dementia, everything on the menu will satisfy your taste buds.
The idea took root in 2017 and started as a pop up restaurant which later became a movement, encouraging partners to start their own locations of this unique service. They are also accepting donations for their advocacy.
