Take Your Pick: Big club tournaments coming up in the next four months

By Adrian Flores

The popularity of golf is at an all time high and continues to grow stronger despite the Covid-19 pandemic still prevailing across the world.

The increase is due to the fact that athletes have turned to golf as a sport and everyday recreational activity.

In the Philippines, organized golf is back to normalcy as clubs have been working double time in the last two months in preparation for big-ticket member-guests and invitational tournaments slated to happen in the first four months of 2023.

Manila Golf will have the Golden Tee from February 6 to 11 while Wack Wack Golf and Country Club will stage the Bill Shaw Memorial Classic from March 8 to 11.

The Belle Cup of bilyonaryo Willy Ocier-led Belle Corp., is slated from February 14 to 19 with the Tantocos’ Sta. Elena Cup set from February 22 to 26.

Other big events on schedule are The Country Club Cup of ultra bilyonaryo Enrique Razon of ICTSI scheduled on March 18-19 at The Country Club; the third Nanay Pineda Cup on April 20-23 at Pradera Verde; Southwoods Invitational of real estate tycoon Bob Sobrepena on March 29-April 1 at Manila Southwoods; the Jose Yulo Memorial on January 28-29 at Canlubang; and Don Celso Truazon Cup on February 16 to 19 at Valley Golf.

WGAP to host 43rd Queen Sirikit Cup

The Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines (WGAP) is all set to host the Amateur Ladies Asia-Pacific Invitational Golf Team Championship from February 20-24 at the Manila Southwoods Golf in Carmona, Cavite.
