It is the turn of Filipino professionals Sean Jean Ramos and Dino Villanueva to try and get Asian Tour regular cards when they compete in the Qualifying School (Section D) from January 11 to 14 at the beautiful Thana City Country Club in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ramos and Villanueva, both winless in the local Philippine Golf Tour but showed great promise in the last two years, vowed to get the coveted card to help push their careers to a higher level in Asia’s biggest professional golf league.
Last week, Enrico Gallardo and amateurs Gabriel Manotoc and John Uy failed to secure their tour cards in the Qualifying School (Section C) held at the Blue Canyon Country Club (Lakes course) also in Thailand.
Gallardo was well on his way to at least getting into the final stage of the Q School with rounds of 70-71-71 in the first three rounds but a final day 76 and 291 total booted the Forest Hills bet from the race. Manotoc and Uy were cut after three days.
Jaewoong Eom of Korea and Hayden Hopewell of Great Britain topped Stage I with identical 275.
