Ayala Group-Blackstone JV to build P60B gas-fired power plant in Batangas

Batangas Clean Energy, Inc. (BCE), a joint venture between Ayala Corp. unit ENEX Energy Corp. and US-based Blackstone portfolio company Gen X Energy LLC, will build a P60 billion gas turbine power plant in Batangas.

BCE will use clean hydrogen and liquefied natural gas to fuel its planned 1,100 megawatt (MW) facility. Construction of the plant is targeted in August with completion eyed in the second semester of 2026 or 2027.

It was formed to develop, finance, and operate downstream natural gas facilities and power plants in the Philippines.

The power plant will source natural gas from a nearby LNG import facility which it did not identify.

It will have the flexibility to burn up to 50 percent clean hydrogen as a supplemental fuel when hydrogen becomes commercially available.
