Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said privatizing the country’s air traffic management system could make operations more efficient, but such a move would have to be carefully evaluated.
In an interview with The Chiefs, Bautista said it is possible for the country’s air traffic management system to be placed in the hands of the private sector, as seen in other countries.
“Sa other countries po ginagawa iyan. Ang isang example niyan ay iyong London Heathrow Airport which is one of the biggest airports in the world. Iyon pong operations ng kanilang air traffic management center or system ay privatized po iyan,” Bautista said.
“So posible, it really depends sa policy natin kung ipa-privatize ba natin iyan. But iyong question niyo na pwede bang i-privatize, pwede po at dahil ginagawa iyan sa ibang bansa,” he added.
Bautista believes that doing so would make operations more efficient.
