The ongoing 2023 Philippine National Stroke Play Championship happening at the Riviera Golf Club’s Langer course may seem like an ordinary tournament on schedule in the National Golf Association of the Philippines on the outside.

But the truth is, it is an important part of the NGAP’s build up for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia this May.

The top 8 finishers in this event get a chance to represent the country in the SEA Games.

After two grinding rounds at the rain-hit championship, Carl Jano Corpus (68-140) is leading by nine shots over Aidric Chan (71-149) on the men’s side while Junia Gabasa ((71-145) is ahead by four against Mafy Singson75-149) in the women’s division.

A total of 50 men and 20 ladies made it through the halfway cut, all eyeing to be part of the SEAG team.
