Airlines have canceled 268 flights following the power failure at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on the first day of 2023, affecting thousands of frustrated flyers.
According to the Department of Transportation, seven flights have been delayed and another seven were diverted to other regional airports due to the power outage at the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center.
DOTr said that a total of 56,000 passengers were affected by the power interruption which started Sunday morning.
It said the glitch which affected the entire Philippines is a developing situation that is continuously being monitored.
“The MIAA (Manila International Airport Authority) seeks the cooperation of the air riding public at this time,” the DOTr said.
