The Philippines could impose travel restrictions on Chinese nationals amid an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases in China.
“I think we should. Personally, I think we should be very cautious kasi kung marami silang COVID cases, dapat mag ingat din mga pumapasok na Chinese dito sa Pilipinas,” Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista told reporters.
Bautista said the Philippines may require COVID tests for all visitors from China.
In Hong Kong, they are open pero kailangan RT-PCR test. We can also do that.
Other Asean countries are also cautious about accepting Chinese visitors,” Bautista said.
Bautista said that while he welcomes the resumption of flights between Manila and China, proper health protocols should be implemented.
