Potato Corner, the popular flavored french fries chain owned by the Po family’s Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI), has entered the European market with the opening of its first outlet in London, United Kingdom.
SPAVI said the opening of the new store in London establishes the homegrown Filipino brand’s global presence in five continents – Asia, North America, South America, Australia, and now, Europe.
Potato Corner’s entry in Europe is part of the company’s strategy to accelerate global expansion.
SPAVI chairman Chris Po earlier bared plans to further scale up the presence of Potato Corner, both domestically and internationally, as the brand is shaping up to be a strong growth pillar for the company.
Aside from London, Potato Corner recently opened its first ever store in Dubai.
Potato Corner has so far opened 39 new international stores this year in Thailand, Singapore, China, Canada, United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
Potato Corner hit a new milestone with the opening of its 1,400th store in the world, located in Zarraga, Iloilo. Of the total number of stores, 1,195 are located in the Philippines and 205 overseas.
“We’re very pleased with the growth momentum of Potato Corner, and we look forward to further increasing its footprint,” Shakey’s president and CEO Vicente Gregorio said.
“Alongside revenues and returns, accelerating Potato Corner’s expansion means more franchisees and their families benefiting
from the business, more job opportunities in the communities where we will operate, and more guests finding joy in a Giga cup of their favorite flavored fries,” he said.
