PLDT Inc. (TEL) chaired by bilyonaryo Manuel V. Pangilinan revealed that its No. 2 official has been excused from her work amid the ongoing probe on the bloated capital expenditures worth P48 billion.
TEL issued the statement on December 21 or four days after Bilyonaryo.com posted its story claiming Chua, who has been with PLDT since Pangilinan and First Pacific took over the firm in 1998, has reportedly been suspended as management conducts a forensic study on what the company has termed as “elevated spending” from 2019 to 2022.
“Ms. Anabelle L. Chua has not been suspended from the company. She is on leave with pay to allow the company to conduct an independent investigation into the elevated CAPEX spend, but she has made herself available to the company to answer questions or provide clarifications as needed,” said TEL in a disclosure.
TEL, however, was mum on Bilyonaryo.com‘s report that senior and chief procurement officer Mary Rose R. Dela Paz has also been suspended due to the ongoing probe.
