Energy Development Corp. (EDC), the geothermal arm of the Lopez Group, is looking to add offshore wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in its power generation portfolio in the next 10 years.
EDC assistant vice president Allan Barcena told reporters the company has a “big concession” in the offshore wind while they are also keen on BESS.
The company is also looking at a total pipeline of 100 MW for geothermal comprising of the 30 MW Palayan binary power plant in Manito, Albay, the 30 MW Tanawon project, which is an expansion of the Bacon-Manito geothermal plant in Bacon, Sorsogon City, and Manito, Albay, and the 30 MW Mahanagdong geothermal plant in Leyte.
EDC is the world’s third biggest geothermal producer with an installed capacity of 1,181 MW.
