Suzuki, Bisera lead charge in Malaysian Amateur Open

Fresh from a triumphant stint in the 72nd Fil-Am Men’s Invitational last week, junior golfer Shinichi Suzuki and Elee Bisera are vying in the men’s side of the 118th Malaysian Amateur Open.

The tournament will be held at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club in Johor Bahru starting Thursday, December 15.

Suzuki will tee off alongside Malaysians Zaeem Jafri from Sabah, Poon Jia Hao from Persekutuan and Hazeem Yusoff from Kelantan at 9:00 a.m. at Hole No. 1.

Bisera, a member of the country’s national team, begins his stint also on the opening hole.

For the women’s division, multi-titled Rianne Malixi, Mafy Singson and Lois Kaye Go are representing the country.

Malixi will compete with Indonesian Natalia Yoko and Malaysians Pang Hee Jie and Kaathiyayani Gunasegar.

Go tees off at 8 a.m. with Korean Kim Ye Rim and Malaysia’s Wang Xin Yao and Chong Shin Ling, while Singson drew an 8:40 a.m. start, also on No. 10, with Canada’s Lucy Lin, Mirabel Ting from Sarawak and Wong Xian Xuan from W. Persekutuan.

Yin, Kim share LPGA LA Open lead

China’s Yin Ruoning fired eight birdies in a career-low LPGA round of seven-under 64 on Friday to grab a share of the second-round lead with Kim Hyo-joo at the Los Angeles Open.
