Chamber of Mines of the Philippines chairman Michael Toledo is calling for stable policies in the local mining industry, one which does not change whenever a new leadership comes in.
Speaking as a panelist during the Arangkada Philippines Forum, Toledo cited the need for stability in mining policies and laws.
He said a stable regulatory and legal framework would aid the recovery of the country’s mining industry.
“A business cannot plan long term if after passing a law, suddenly after one or two years, you change,” he added.
Toledo also underscored the need to “bring minerals out of the ground,” saying that these are worthless as long as they remain on the ground.
