Construction of the 3.17-kilometer bridge that will reduce travel time between Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental is now 61 percent complete, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The P7.37 billion Panguil bridge, financed by a loan agreement between the government and the Philippines and Korean Export Import Bank, is aimed at spurring economic activities between the two provinces.
Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the government is not only ensuring continuity of major infrastructure projects started by the previous administration but also aims to fast-track completion to get the country back on the road to economic recovery.
When completed, the bridge will become the country’s longest bridge. It will cut travel time between Lanao Del Norte and Misamis Occidental from two hours to just seven minutes.
