A new breed of online scammers has been hacking into the online accounts of BDO clients and is trying to get away with relatively small but frequent online purchases, such as subscriptions to streaming apps like Disney Plus and Netflix.
Several netizens were shocked to see online debit purchases they did not make in their in-app breakdown of transactions. Others pertained to vague online purchases via Google in amounts of P249.
“Guys always check ur bank accounts, Nakita ko sa mobile banking ko na bglang nabawasan kahit wala naman akong transactions,” Facebook user Frencie Arquelada wrote. “Partida wala akong any app na naka link sa bank account.”
User Kara Lorraine had the same horrifying experience. “Take note that I haven’t used my debit card for transactions listed below. But they are draining my account like crazy,” she said.
