International Container Terminal Services Inc.’s (ICTSI) unit in Misamis Oriental has further improved its vessel handling capacity after acquiring a mobile harbor crane (MHC).
Ultra bilyonaryo Enrique K. Razon Jr.’s ICTSI said the MHC, which operational by December, would augment the Mindanao Container Terminal’s (MCT) existing quay cranes by enabling simultaneous handling of two longer ships.
Last March, MCT deployed two new rubber tired gantries in a bid to increase the efficiency of its landside operations.
A side lifter will also be deployed in November to support MCT’s recently launched empty container depot service.
MCT’s acquisition of additional port equipment is part of its ongoing expansion program. This comes after the 100-meter berth expansion and installation of dolphin mooring and inland bollards back in 2020.
These improvements are meant to address the increase in volume and service demand, allowing MCT to better support the growing markets in Mindanao.
MCT manages and operates the container terminal at the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in southern Philippines. It provides full terminal operations and supports the Philippines’ agro-industrial sectors in Mindanao as well as the country’s international standing as a leader in fresh and canned pineapple trade.
