Weeks after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on several countries to address climate change during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation’s (APEC) Summit, his close friend, bilyonaryo Sabin Aboitiz, has been named the vice chair of APEC Business Advisory Council’s working group on sustainable growth.
The president and CEO of the Aboitiz Group is taking on a new role in the ABAC after this year’s assignment as head of the working group on regional economic integration initiatives.
In a statement, the Aboitiz Group said Sabin, who currently leads Marcos’ Private Sector Advisory Council, will lead the working group for 2023.
“I look forward to my new role with optimism and enthusiasm as we continue to work closely together towards achieving our shared goals for the region and delivering more sustainable and meaningful outcomes for the world,” Sabin said, noting his term will focus on creating a low-carbon economy to combat climate change.
He will be working with Aboitiz Group’s Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer Ginggay Hontiveros for ABAC matters, while collaborating with committee chairman Ning Gaoning, former chairman of China’s Sinochem Holdings.
