Bilyonaryo Tony Tan Caktiong’s Jollibee Group is hoping to capture a bigger bite of the American hamburger market.
US hamburger chain Smashburger, a unit of homegrown fastfood giant Jollibee, recently opened a new branch in New York City.
Located in the Upper East Side at 804 Lexington Ave. in New York, the new branch is the second corporate Smashburger in the US to open with a full-service bar offering a variety of ice-cold beers on draft and cans along with signature cocktails such as Blackberry Smash, Smoke & Spice Margarita, Smash Rum Punch, Coconut Mule and more.
“Smashburger is continuing its efforts to elevate the overall fast-casual dining experience with the opening of our second full bar restaurant in New York City,” Smashburger president Carl Bachmann said.
“More and more diners are looking for a place they can socialize and eat out, and the Upper East Side and the surrounding community now have the opportunity to enjoy a high-quality burger with first-class cocktails and draft beers in a fun environment,” he added.
Smashburger has opened eight new stores this year as part of the Jollibee Group’s aggressive expansion program in North America.
The expansion is part of the group’s vision to be among the top five restaurant companies in the world.
The Jollibee Group took full ownership of Smashburger in 2018.
With Smashburger as part of its portfolio, Jollibee plans to open more stores this year as part of the company’s aggressive expansion plan in North America.
