Manila Southwoods seizes upperhand in FilAm Golf

Baguio— Manila Southwoods Team 1 seized the lead with a second round 127 that raised its points total to 248 while rival Luista was at 243 (123-120) at the 72nd Fil-Am Men’s Invitational.

Veteran Jun Plana scored a two-under card worth 38 points to lead the way for Southwoods. Raul Minoza supported with 32, Manfred Guangko signed for a 30 and Judd Roy added a 27 for 127.

Benjie Sumulong carried the fight for Luisita with 33. Marty Ilagan made a 31 while Dan Cruz and Chino Raymundo backed up with 29 and 27 for that 120.

Alpha Phi Omega Golfers outgunned defending champion Manila Southwoods Team 2 and favorite Megafiber at least after two rounds of seniors AM-Championship action held at the Baguio Country Club.

APO collected 181 (85-96) points, 12 ahead of Srixon IMG’s 169 (85-84). Southwoods Team 2 checked in at third with 167 (87-80) while Dugong Bughaw 166 (80-86) and Megafiber 164 (88-76) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
