The P23.3 billion expressway that will link the country’s major expressways is expected to be completed within the first quarter of next year.
Urban development advocate Rafael dela Torre said the NLEX-SLEX Connector road would surely make people’s travel safe and comfortable once it starts operating midway into the first quarter of 2023.
He said the project would also increase trade and commerce among provinces north and south of Manila.
“What they promise as a safe and comfortable journey is true,” Dela Torre said.
The NLEX-SLEX Connector is a project undertaken by Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. and SMC Infrastructure.
It is an eight-kilometer elevated four-lane expressway that will extend the North Luzon Expressway southward from the end of Segment 10 on C3 Road Caloocan City to PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila.
It will connect to Skyway Stage 3 by mostly traversing the Philippine National Railways track.
Once completed, it is expected to cut travel time from the South Luzon Expressway to NLEX from two hours to just 20 minutes, benefiting some 35,000 motorists.
