Para derecho sa Manila Golf course! Lawmakers finalize changes to P5.2T budget in Martin Romualdez’s turf

Will lawmakers from the House of Representatives have the upper hand in tweaking the proposed P5.268-trillion national budget for 2023 since discussions are happening in Speaker Martin Romualdez’s turf?

Select lawmakers from the Senate and House of Representatives gathered Friday (November 25) at the Manila Golf and Country Club for the bicameral conference committee meeting on the 2023 general appropriations bill.

Romualdez, a first cousin of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is a member of the exclusive club, where a share costs P125 million as of October 2022.

Up for discussion are the final allocations of the first spending plan created under the Marcos administration.

The goal is to agree on one version of the GAB, which must be ratified by both chambers in separate plenary sessions before it is submitted to Malacañang for Marcos’ signature.

The House contingent to the bicam meetings is composed of: Reps. Elizaldy Co, Stella Quimbo, Ralph Recto, Aurelio Gonzales Jr., Mannix Dalipe, Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Jay-Jay Suarez, Neptali Gonzales II, Joboy Aquino II, Raul Angelo Bongalon, Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Michael John Duavit, Marcelino Libanan and Edcel Lagman.

For the Senate, members of the bicam are: Senators Sonny Angara, Loren Legarda, Pia Cayetano, Cynthia Villar, Imee Marcos, Win Gatchalian, Bato Dela Rosa, Bong Go, Risa Hontiveros, Nancy Binay, Grace Poe, Francis Tolentino, Mark Villar, JV Ejercito, Alan Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, and Jinggoy Estrada.
