Fil-Am Golf organizers hold team captains meeting for seniors event

Baguio City—A team captains meeting and first practice round marked the initial activities for the upcoming seniors’ tournament of the 72nd Fil-Am Men’s Invitational.

The tournament is slated from November 26 fo December 1 at Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay Golf Club.

Fil-Am co-chairmen Anthony de Leon of Baguio Country Club and Jude Eustaquio of Camp John Hay Golf Club and rules officials Jose “Pepot” Iñigo and Jack Imperial presided over the skippers’ meet and discussed important nitty-gritty details for this week’s play.

Among those discussed were conditions of play and on-course rules of co-hosts Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay to speed up pace of play and for smooth event operations and the new health protocols that would ensure the safety of every competitor.

“On behalf of Jude (Eustaquio), I welcome everyone to this annual event. We are happy to see new and old friends here and have a sort of reunion,” said de Leon, who is the general manager of BCC.

A total of 100 teams are competing in the seniors and 26 are playing in the lower divisions of the regular teams this week.

There will be more than 1,200 playing, making up the 240 teams with still 110 squads on the waitlist.

Decena top Camp Aguinaldo year-end tournament

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Ruby and Captain Joseph Decena, both from the Philippine Army, won the low gross and low net championship titles, respectively, in the year-end tournament of the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club in Quezon City.
