Hurt so good: Diokno mum on new BIR chief who replaced his loyal subordinate axed by Marcos

The firing of his former assistant in the central bank continues to rankle Finance Secretary Ben Diokno.

The normally affable Diokno cut short his ambush interview when media reporters asked about his relationship with newly-minted Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr.

In contrast, Diokno was more candid when asked about his relationship with President Bongbong Marcos and Albay Rep. Joey Salceda, who is rumored to be his replacement.

“Very good. Okay, thank you,” said Diokno on his current ties with his boss.

“Magkaibigan kami ni Joey. Meron kaming grupo na ‘FFF’ no? Friday, friends, forever. Okay?” replied Diokno on his relationship with Salceda.

On speculation of his firing from the Department of Finance, Diokno said: ” I don’t know where this is coming from. Right? I’m old enough in this game to even bother about this. I just work nonstop unceasingly to do my job. And I always think of what’s the greatest good for the greatest number. Para sa bayan.”
