Jimmy Bautista sets privatization plan in motion: Edsa Busway, North Long Haul Railway, Manila Bay-Laguna Lake System, 10 airports in the pipeline

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will soon kick off the privatization of transport infrastructure projects and 10 provincial airports as part of efforts to boost employment, promote connectivity and slash logistics costs.

These projects, which are under the public-private partnership program (PPP), include the NCR EDSA Busway, North Long Haul Inter-Regional Railway (NCR-Ilocos, Cagayan) and the Manila Bay-Pasig River-Laguna Lake (MaPaLLA) Ferry System.

Airports in Bohol, Laguindingan, Bicol, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Davao, Bacolod, Kalibo, Busuanga and Siargao are also up for privatization.

Four new airports will also rise in Siargao, Masbate, Dumaguete and Zamboanga.

The PPP Center and DOTr are conducting preliminary market sounding activity to solicit feedback from interested private sector partners.

Transport Secretary Jimmy Bautista said the PPP scheme would generate investments and employment for Filipinos.
