Kuala Lumpur—Ronin Leviste of the Philippines shot a 76 at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club and a 64 at the Kelab Rahman Putra Malaysia for a 140 tally and a two-stroke halfway through the World Amateur Golfers Invitational tournament in Malaysia.
Leviste, son of Batangas Vice Governor and fellow competitor Marc Leviste, is slightly ahead over Qaiser Gul, who shot rounds of 85 and 57 for 142 in Group IV (Hdcp 16-20).
Another Filipino, Romeo Lopez, meanwhile, is tied for first in Group II (Hdcp 6-10) with rounds of 78 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club and 73 at KRPM. Spain’s Jose Carlos Rastol holds the same score after an 80 and 71.
In the World Amateur Golfers Championship competition, Denden de Castro, Anna Kei Fernandez, Venice Ngo and captain Gen. Abe Rojas are fighting out in their respective groupings.
