Nomura Cup tees off at Southwoods

Thailand opens its title defense on Tuesday with the opening of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Team Championship, also known as the Nomura Cup, at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Cavite.

The Thais will face stiff competition from powerhouse teams from 10-time winner Australia, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines at the demanding Masters course.

The local campaign will be bannered by Kristoffer Arevalo, Elee Bisera and Coby Rolida with Bisera and Rolida out to make their national team debuts a memorable one before a hometown crowd.

The other countries participating are Chinese-Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore and United Arab Emirates.

Decena top Camp Aguinaldo year-end tournament

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Ruby and Captain Joseph Decena, both from the Philippine Army, won the low gross and low net championship titles, respectively, in the year-end tournament of the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club in Quezon City.
