No to ‘silly asterisks’! Maya takes swipe at GCash in launching new fund transfer feature

Manny V. Pangilinan’s e-wallet, Maya, took a swipe at rival GCash as it announced that app users can now transfer funds using customized usernames.

“Forget phone numbers and names with silly ast*r*sks. Say hello to @usernames and use them to send and request money with your Maya friends!,” the e-wallet said in an ad.

To use this feature, customers need to update their Maya app so they can select a username.

Maya and GCash have toughened security measures in recent months to protect their users against scams that use their mobile numbers and other personal details.
