Big Boy Sy-Anthony Almeda data firm set to become first Starlink integrator in PH and Southeast Asia

Data Lake Inc. of bilyonaryo Henry “Big Boy” Sy Jr. and Anthony Almeda is poised to become the first Starlink integrator in the country and in Southeast Asia.

This comes after the Philippine-based data company reached a deal with billionaire Elon Musk’s Space X to bring his satellite internet service to businesses and government organizations in the country.

Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet in over 40 countries worldwide.

Almeda, who serves as Data Lake chairman, said Starlink’s satellite constellation is uniquely capable of providing high-bandwidth and reliable internet to the Philippines, even in times of natural disaster.

“The Philippines is an archipelago, and connecting our country to the wider world often requires extensive infrastructure,” Almeda said.

Starlink’s satellites are positioned in low-earth orbit (LEO) at an altitude of 550 kilometers, over 65 times closer than conventional geostationary telecommunication satellites.

“We are excited to help bring this industry-leading technology to the country,” said Data Lake vice chairman David Tanael.

“Connectivity is critical in today’s modern age, and Starlink will help further Data Lake’s goal of sustainable and equitable economic development throughout the Philippines,” he added.

SpaceX vice president of Starlink sales Jonathan Hofeller assured that Starlink can achieve game-changing connectivity in hard-to-reach, remote areas on land, at sea, and in the air.

“We look forward to making the service available in the Philippines in the coming months, and we’re grateful to those who have aided in our ability to connect everyday people, businesses, and government entities,” he said.
