For whose eyes only? MTRCB teams up with Netflix on using parental controls

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has partnered with Netflix to remind adult subscribers of ways to keep sensitive content out of children’s eyes.

MTRCB chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio announced that the agency signed an agreement with the video subscription platform “to promote Responsableng Panonood (Responsible Viewership) to its Filipino subscribers.”

“Here at the MTRCB, we look after the well-being of Filipino viewers of all ages, which is why safeguards must be in place to prevent young children from being exposed to content that is not appropriate for their age,” Sotto-Antonio added.

Under the deal, Netflix is tasked to promote the use of in-app Parental Controls to limit the content which children and underage viewers may see.

MTRCB earlier said it wants the power to regulate Netflix and other video streaming sites and apps as part of its mandate to police and rate content.
