President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named Jay Daniel Santiago as General Manager of the Philippine Ports Authority, the same post he held for six years under the Duterte administration.
It was during Santiago’s stint at PPA that the agency recorded the highest revenues and dividends during its 48-year history.
The PPA made its payment and permitting system more efficient through digitalization.
Under Santiago, PPA also completed a total of 248 projects. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the agency rushed to convert the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal in Pier 15, Manila and Port Capinpin in Orion, Bataan into a fully equipped COVID-19 quarantine and isolation facility for returning seafarers and other OFWs.
Other PPA offcials appointed by Marcos recently include: Elmer Nonnatus S. Cadano, as Assistant General Manager, and Frederico P. Quevedo, as private sector representative to the PPA Board.
