Tagaytay Highlands’ teamwork leads to Fed Interclub victory

Tagaytay Highlands leaned on the fine performances of Allan Bumagat and Ace Stehmeier to win the Federation Interclub Tournament played at the Riviera Golf Club’s Couples course in Silang, Cavite Monday.

Bumagat and Stehmeier each scored a gross 74, Ray Sangil 75, Gab Macalagium 76, Derrico Dimaunahan 77 and RJ Rizada 79 for the team’s winning output of 455 in the eight-to-play, six-to-count event put up by the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines.

Manila Southwoods got the runners up honors after it finished with 458. Masaichi Otake made a 71 and was supported by Ruel Cabral 74, Jacob Rolida 76, Manfred Guangko 79, Jun Plana 79 and Joseph Tambunting 79.

Host Riviera was third with 464 counting the scores of Erik Escalona 76, Patrick Gene Tambalque 76, Eric Gozo 77, Richard Salcedo 77, King Stehmeier 78 and Edwin Lee 80.

Valley Golf 478, Forest Hills 479, Sta. Elena 480, Orchard 481 and Eastridge 485 occupied the next four spots.

Smith struggles as Micheluzzi leads Australian Open

World number three Cameron Smith struggled on Thursday in the opening round of the Australian Open, falling behind course record-setting leader David Micheluzzi, while Grace Kim led the women’s tournament in Melbourne.
