The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) warned customers against a new modus that will allow scammers to hack into their bank accounts.
The Ayala-owned lender flagged about scam calls wherein a fake BPI employee will instruct a client to update their mobile app using a website link that they will send via email.
The “new” app will supposedly carry enhanced features for better security, except it will do the exact opposite.
“Remember, we will never call you to ask you to update your app neither will we send a clickable link for you to click! Only download and update apps through your device’s official app store,” the bank added.
Beware!
