The group behind leading Filipino tabloid Abante and news sites Bilyonaryo.com and Politiko is taking its diverse content further beyond the boundaries of traditional media.
With more people turning to live-streaming platforms for news, Abante is stepping up to the plate to reach a larger audience. It will launch its first social media newscast and public service programs on Monday, Oct. 10.
Dubbed Abante Teletabloid, the five-day-a-week newscast will feature the biggest headlines from the Philippines and overseas, including political, business, sports, entertainment and other human interest stories.
Anchored by multimedia icon Mr. Fu, whose equally unique persona is expected to complement the show’s unconventional format, Abante Teletabloid is a one-hour program which will be available from Monday through Friday starting at 6 a.m. It will be livestreamed on Abante’s website, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok accounts.
The newscast will be followed by Abante’s public service program called i-Abante Mo!, also a one-hour show from Monday through Friday.
Hosted by veteran broadcast journalist Sol Aragones and Jigo Postolero, i-Abante Mo! will tackle national issues such as coruption, security threats as well as recurring concerns such as traffic woes, physical and sexual abuses, local conflicts and crimes.
The launch of Abante’s two digital shows coincides with the fifth anniversary of the long-running tabloid under its new owner, Prage Management Corporation.
The two programs are the first in a series of shows Abante is offering as it beefs up its digital programming content to further expand its reach.
