Samantha Bruce clinched her second individual top five by tying for third spot while towing the Seattle University women’s golf team to a podium finish at the Boston College Intercollegiate in Canton, Massachussets.
The Seattle U graduate student, Bruce, a native of Makati City, ended with a three day total of 220 for the Redhawks after rounds of 74-74-72 at the par-72 course of Blue Hill Country Club.
The statuesque Bruce was again impressive at Boston as the 5-foot-11 Redhawk tied for first in birdies with 10 and finishing fourth in both par four and five average.
Just last weekend at the Gonzaga Invitational, she broke school records for lowest round (64), lowest round vs. par (8-under), lowest 36 hole total (137) and lowest 54 hole total (210) at the first tournament of the season, the Green Wave Classic.
The Redhawks look forward to hosting the eighth annual Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Tacoma on Oct. 3-4.
“This is a very talented team that just hasn’t been able to put it all together yet,” said Seattle U head coach Marc Chandonnet.
“We did our best to fight through the rounds and had a very respectable finish. I know we are capable of winning tournaments like these and we will need to turn up the dial in practice moving forward. We will look to rest up before getting back to work at the Harbottle next week.”
