Barya lang tinira! Foodpanda’s steep commission, deductions leave café owner with P38 income

A café owner in Manila is calling for a boycott of FoodPanda for allegedly fleecing money off small business owners through a huge commission fee and various deductions.

Selvas Café owner Karen Anne Selva shared the breakdown of fees collected by FoodPanda in a now-viral Facebook post.

For four orders worth P450, Selva only earned P38.50 after FoodPanda deducted a 25-percent commission fee of P112.50, P223.22 in “fees and adjustments,” and P369.30 in taxes.

“Omygod. muntik na kaming nagbenta for them sana kinuha na nila lahat. PLEASE STOP ORDERING FROM FOOD PANDA!,” Selva wrote.

“Better to order direct sa page please. They are not helping small businesses. Ang sakit sa puso.”

The cafe owner said FoodPanda also charges a P250 weekly deduction on top of the commissions per successful order. She added that the platform fee would only be charged if the restaurant gets over P4,000 worth of monthly sales, but that it was not followed.

Selva said she has been trying to get in touch with FoodPanda’s customer service line to clarify some of the charges imposed on her, to no avail.
