Christina Frasco wants ‘Filipino brand’ showcased at NAIA T2, Davao airport

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco is working with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to transform two of the country’s major gateways into airports that tourists would love landing at.

Frasco said the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 and Davao International Airport will undergo a makeover to showcase the “Filipino brand.”

Also part of Frasco’s rehabilitation plan is the Cebu City Pier, which is in her family’s bailiwick of Cebu.

“Essentially, we’ve already formed a technical working group among our departments where we study the current inefficiencies of landing and going and leaving the airport, to study the time and motion, from the time that you arrived, to the time that you’re processed. and the time that you leave,” the Tourism chief explained.

“In addition to that, we plan to introduce a tacit manifestation of the Filipino brand into our gateways. And that includes aesthetic changes and improvements in the airport to introduce as well a Filipino flavor, furniture, products, as well as sources of entertainment and interaction within the airport,” she added.

Frasco said tourist arrivals are now at 1.5 million, on track to breach a full-year projection of 1.7 million.
